Julian Lennon has revealed he has been diagnosed with coronary heart disease and is urging others to get checked “sooner rather than later”.

The 63-year-old musician and documentary filmmaker, son of Beatles legend John Lennon and his first wife Cynthia Lennon, shared details of his recent health struggles on social media over the weekend.

Posting a series of images online, Lennon said he had been diagnosed with coronary heart disease and was also told he is pre-diabetic. He explained that he wanted to raise awareness and encourage others not to ignore potential health issues.

“I urge you all to get checked out sooner rather than later,” he wrote. “You never know what hidden health issues you may have, even after exercising and eating as much ‘good/healthy’ food as possible.”

He added: “Nip it in the bud! As they say.”

Lennon also said he was fortunate to have discovered the conditions early, explaining that doctors believe some of the damage can be reversed. He remains hopeful of living “a healthy long life.”
