Elton John has revealed he has finished a brand-new album, describing it as “so different” from his previous work and “so happy”.

Speaking while accepting the Glenn Gould Prize in Toronto, Sir Elton said recent eyesight problems have completely changed the way he writes music. After suffering a serious eye infection in 2024, he said he now has limited vision in one eye.

The singer explained that, for the first time in his career, he is writing melodies before lyrics.

“It’s given me the chance, at 80 years of age, to completely reverse how I write,” he said.
